After School Arts & Learning Academy (ASALA)
Young Audiences is using its highly successful Summer Arts & Learning Academy model to transform after school programming. Using a co-teaching model, the After School Arts & Learning Academy (ASALA) pairs a classroom teacher and a professional teaching artist to deliver arts-integrated math and literacy lessons to Baltimore City students in 3rd-5th grade in select schools throughout Baltimore City.
Each day, students will have an opportunity to explore an art form with a professional artist and then engage in a 60-minute math or literacy lesson—all while having fun! This free 40-day program is an action-packed, highly engaging after school experience for students in grades 3-5.
Young Audiences is seeking Site Directors to oversee a group of professional teaching artists and classroom teachers through a 40-day after school program. Primarily responsible for day-to-day operations of the site, Site Directors oversee student achievement, data collection and reporting, and staff climate and culture.
Young Audiences is seeking Office Managers to provide administrative and operational support to our After School Arts & Learning Academy sites. The Office Manager is the face of the program as they are typically the first point of contact for parents, guests, and visitors to the site.
Student Support Coordinators
Young Audiences is seeking Student Support specialists to assist in providing a nurturing and caring after school community. The Student Support Coordinator is a key member in developing the student support plan for the site, and will effectively oversee this plan throughout the program. The coordinator will facilitate one-on-one, and group conflict resolution sessions and provide in-classroom support when needed.
Young Audiences is seeking academic teachers with a strong desire to fully integrate into a non-traditional learning environment where flexibility is strongly valued and where new and innovative ideas are not only cultivated but expected from all staff. Teachers will be paired with a highly skilled teaching artist to provide arts-integrated math and literacy instruction and will serve as lead teacher for one daily 60-minute, arts-integrated class.
Young Audiences is seeking Physical Education teachers to lead two different sections of our After School Arts & Learning Academy. First, Athletics coaches would lead a structured recess time for the first half-hour of the program. Second, these coaches would then lead a 60-minute athletics course daily for the duration of the program.
Teaching Artist Assistants
Young Audiences is seeking Artist Assistants to work side-by-side with a professional teaching artist. Through active engagement during lessons, assistants build valuable teaching skills while also nurturing the strengths, talents, and growth of Baltimore City Schools students.
Young Audiences is seeking teachers from ASALA schools to work alongside ASALA staff as they engage in hands-on PD and classroom practices to develop trauma-informed practice grounded in social and emotional learning and the arts.
