Children
have different styles of learning. To teach all of the children
in a class, not just some of them, we must employ multiple teaching
strategies, including techniques from the visual and performing
arts! Arts Integrated Residencies use the power of the arts to
engage all types of learners, as well as build skills and knowledge
in literacy, math, science, history, and the arts.
The
following artists have received training from the Teaching Artist
Institute (TAI) - a professional development seminar established
by the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC), Arts Education in Maryland
Schools (AEMS) Alliance, and Young Audiences/Arts for Learning.
TAI partners with MATI (a professional development program for
educators established by the MD Department of Education and MSAC)
to bring teaching artists and teachers together. These residencies
address arts and other academic standards in the Maryland Voluntary
State Curriculum and will be custom designed to meet the needs
of your students.
