All Young Audiences artists are highly skilled professional teaching artists that have completed a rigorous interview and audition process. They are evaluated and selected annually based on their artistic excellence and ability to connect with young people.

Gayle Danley

Slam Poet


Soon after earning a Masters Degree in Radio, Television, and Film from Syracuse University, Gayle discovered Slam Poetry. She immediately won the 1994 National Individual Slam Poet Competition and followed that success by becoming the 1996 International Slam Poet Champion. In 2006 she was named Young Audiences (National) Artist of the Year. Gayle, has been featured on CBS’s ‘60 Minutes’, and is a published author. Gayle’s explosive style combines movement and emotion as she performs her magic on the audience, sweeping them up in her words as she addresses and explores contemporary issues. She has a presence like few you’ll ever see in the classroom or on the stage.

Gunstwork founder, Michael Gunst, is an actor, director and mask maker from Boulder, Colorado. His innovative brand of theater combines lavish puppets and elaborate masks with acting to tell stories. Michael has toured, taught, and performed across North America, Scotland, England, Switzerland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Michael has performed with Colorado Shakespeare Festival’s “Living Shakespeare”, Studebaker Movement Theater Company, Faustwork Mask Theatre, Asolo Theater, Circus Flora, The Big Apple Clown Care Unit, and the International Pantomime Company of New England.

Linda Fang

Storyteller

A storyteller since the age of ten, Linda has told stories to audiences of all ages. She has been featured at the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, The National Theatre, and the Smithsonian, as well as internationally at storytelling festivals. Linda is the award-winning author of “The Ch’i-lin Purse,” a collection of Ancient Chinese stories, many of which are now being used as teaching material in American textbooks. In 1998, she was named National Storyteller of the Year, and in 2004 she received the Solo Theatrical Performer Award from MSAC. Her CD, “Tales From Ancient China,” won the 2006 Parents’ Choice Award.

Carolyn Koerber

Puppeteer/Storyteller

Since 1970, Carolyn has presented puppet theatre that excites the imagination. A truly unique and outstanding artist, actress, and storyteller, Carolyn reaches the hearts and minds of everyone in her audience. She has appeared at the Smithsonian, The National Theatre, and thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers in the Mid-Atlantic region. After each assembly, Carolyn takes the students “backstage” to introduce them to the puppets, props, and scenery.

Actor/Vaudeville Comedian

An entertainer who has studied the masters of his craft – Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Bill Irwin – Mark has more than two decades of performing experience wowing audiences around the globe! He has performed everywhere from the stage of the Kennedy Center, to the center ring of the circus, to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. A featured act at the largest clown festival in the world – The Kimtom International Clown Festival in Shanghai, China – Mark’s unique comic style brings together many disciplines of performance art in hysterical ways that are guaranteed to amaze audiences of all ages!

Katherine Lyons

Actor/Storyteller

Katherine Lyons acts regularly on Baltimore stages, and tours regionally with her inter activestory dramas. Katherine is a Master Teaching Artist for the Wolf Trap Foundation, conducting workshops and residencies for teachers and children in the Maryland/Virginia/DC area. As a theatre artist she has worked with children Pre-K through High School for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Walters Art Gallery, Peabody Institute and Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts. She has worked in theatre and film in San Francisco, Austin, and New York. Katherine has a B.A. in Creative Arts from the University of Virginia.

Tim Marrone

Actor

Classical and comedic actor, Tim Marrone, received his training at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City and has appeared on stage throughout the Northeast. For ten years, Tim served as a founding member of the Maryland-based clown/theatre troupe Theatricks. He has appeared as a silent comic character in and around the Baltimore area and has co-written and performed productions as a physical comedian. Tim teaches theatre and movement at the Baltimore School for the Arts.

Debra Mims

Storyteller

Debra Mims has been an actress for over thirty years and was an arts producer at PBS for fourteen years. With additional training in dance, she received a BFA in Theatre Performance from Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan. She has performed at the Georgetown Theatre Company, the Children’s Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin, and the Detroit-Windsor Dance Company. Debra is the 2010 Individual Artist Award winner for
solo performance from Maryland State Arts Council. She also won this award previously in 2004 and 2008.

Molly Moores

Actor


Molly Moores is a local actor with a mission to introduce students to Shakespeare and theatre in a fun and exciting format. She believes that exposing young students to Shakespeare in a positive way will create a receptiveness in future learning. Molly stretches imaginations, inspires confidence and makes learning fun. Molly has acted with Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, Folger Theatre, Ford’s Theatre and Studio Theatre, among others. She has taught drama and directed children’s shows at Young Actor’s Theatre at McDonogh School. Molly is a graduate of Loyola University and received additional training at American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.

Quest features a cast of talented deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing performers/teaching artists who represent a diverse ethnic, cultural and artistic panorama. Quest is committed to creating, producing, presenting, and supporting theatre that emanates from a visual base and features casts and production staffs that are inclusive. Quest’s in school work focuses on the use of visual theatre to enhance literacy. Through its international exchanges and collaborations, Quest carries its mission to communities around the world, including Japan, India, Romania, Mexico, Hong Kong and South Africa.

Seth Reichgott

Seth Reichgott

Greek Mythology

Seth Reichgott is an award-winning actor, director, and writer. In addition to his work with Greek mythology, he has written several children’s plays about science, and his award winning slapstick clown show, Man Plans, has toured extensively in the United States and Canada. Seth is an associate member of the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble and an original member of the touring street theatre troupe Le Pamplemousse. He is a graduate of Wesleyan University and the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre.

Arianna Ross creates entertaining, educational international, dynamic programs that weave the power of dance, theatre, creative writing, music and spoken word together. Arianna Ross is known for her ability to entertain/educate both children and adults with equal success. For over 12 years, Arianna has performed and taught workshops across the United States, Canada, India, Vietnam and Brazil in festivals, concert halls, schools, community centers and hospitals. Additionally, Arianna has taught arts-integrated programs across the country for organizations such as the United Arts Council of Raleigh, NC, Towson University, the Choral Arts Society of Washington DC, and AATE. Each program is tailored to the specific age group in attendance.

Single Carrot Theatre was founded in April 2005 by a group of University of Colorado, Boulder graduates, and selected Baltimore as its permanent home. SCT serves the Baltimore City community and surrounding areas through
theatrical performances open to the public and education and outreach programs. SCT’s high quality work and rapid success have been recognized in the press. In the 2009 City Paper’s Best of Baltimore issue, SCT was named “Best
Theater Company” (Staff Pick) and “Best Local Theater” (Reader’s Poll). In the 2010 edition, SCT was named “Best Ensemble.” In 2010, SCT was chosen by Baltimore Business Journal as a “Startup to Watch.”

Storyteller

Jon Spelman is regarded as one of America’s leading storytellers. As a performer, he has developed more than 30 hours of narrative material, all of which he continues to perform throughout the United States and Europe. He has received a Children’s Radio Award, an Achievement in Children’s Television Award, and two Emmys for “Three Stories Tall,” which he hosted for six years on NBC-4 in Washington, D.C.

Synetic Theater

Pantomime and Physical Theatre

Artistic Director Paata Tsikurishvili has created one of the only professional Pantomime Theatre repertories for youth in the U.S. He uses Georgian (former Republic of the Soviet Union) pantomime traditions combined with dance, clowning, and music to create a professional pantomime repertoire for all ages. Tsikurishvili and Resident Choreographer, Irina Tsikurishvili, have been nominated twelve times for the prestigious Helen Hayes Awards in Washington, D.C. Irina has won four times for Choreography, and Paata has won Best Director and Best Resident Play.
